​In August this year I photographed a wedding at Ringwood Hall in Chesterfield, Derbyshire of Laura and Alex.

I've been to Ringwood Hall to photograph weddings quite a few times and it's a venue I always look forward to. There are beautiful landscaped gardens with lots of great settings for photograph to be taken. When you take a walk round the gardens there is something interesting round every corner. Not to mention the beautiful backdrop of the fields and hills of Derbyshire.

As a fantastic 2015 comes to an end I decided to take the chance to pick a selection of my favourite pictures taken at weddings this year. Wortley Hall is one of my favourite wedding venues in Sheffield as their gardens are amazing. Everywhere you look there is a great view or great photo opportunity.

The hotel was in a beautiful countryside setting near Castleton in the Peak District & the weather didn't disappoint with it being a glorious sunny day.

Ringwood Hall i a venue I would highly recommend. It is located near to Chesterfield in Derbyshire and has some spectacular gardens to get some great photographs in. The hotel itself is beautiful too. Laura and Alex had their wedding ceremony in the Chatsworth Suite then moved on to the impressive Ringwood Suite for their celebrations.

We got some great pictures during the day and into the evening too where we set up our pop-up studio.

Sheffield band Boy On A Dolphin kicked off Christmas 2014 in style on 17 December at Sheffield City Hall.

Lead by John Reilly, Boy On A Dolphin got a packed City Hall rocking into Christmas 2014.

Henry Priestman of the Christians provided support and opened up the nights procedings.

The weekend of 25-27 July 2014 sees Sheffield play host to the 6th annual Tramlines music festival.

Musicians can be found playing live at various venues across the city over this three day celebration of music and the city of Sheffield.

Over the years the festival has showcased hundreds of acts. Notable artists to appear at the festival have included Reverend And The Makers, Ash, The XX, Echo And The Bunnymen, Heaven 17, Craig David, Tinchy Stryder, Professor Green, Olly Murs, The Hoosiers, Roots Manuva and many more.

This year artists include Public Enemy, Sister Sledge, Funeral For A Friend, Katy B and The Cribs.

As well as the headliners there are also loads of other artists to discover including Sheffield's finest. These can be found various venues across the city.

Congratulations to Kyle Emmerson & Richie Wood who at 00:01 will become Sheffield's first same sex couple to marry in Sheffield on 29 March 2014.

As of 29 March 2014 same sex marraiges are now legal across the UK and thousands will follow Kyle and Richie by tying the knott.

This is a beautiful church and has a great venue Aston Hall Hotel just behind it.

It was rainy and the umbrellas were up but everyone was in high spirits and had a wonderful day.

I'll start with this wedding shot with Image Book Weddings at The Carlton Park Hotel in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

It's something I'd been looking forward to for a while as with the previous annual photography trade show Focus On Imaging and was looking forward to seeing what the new show had to offer.

The show didn't disappoint. Packed full of stands offering great discounts on all the things a photographer could need and new products to offer our clients. There was also lots of inspiration to be taken from the special guest speakers holding seminars and demonstrations throughout the show. I particularly enjoyed seeing Kate Hopewell-Smith, Lisa Devlin and Damian McGillicudy.

Can't wait for the show next year. I would highly recommend a visit for any professional or budding professional photographers. You can't help but come away from the show full of inspiration and new ideas.

My style is mostly to document what’s going on in an unobtrusive way – look for those little moments to tell the story of the day. 

It’s your wedding day, not a photo shoot. I operate as a reportage documentary photographer. In other words I blend into the background. I capture moments as they happen naturally, not contrived.

I tell the story of your day from morning preparations through to the evening reception. We go over all the details of the day together to make sure we’ve agreed in advance what’s needed, so that any particular pictures you may have in mind are included.

I've never blogged before but after being urged to do it by a number of people thought I best give it a go.

I'll start with a bit of an introduction and back story.

My name is Dan Mogan. I'm a professional photographer based in the beautiful northern steel city of Sheffield.

​I've been a wedding photographer since 2005 having started out in the industry working alongside Anthony Keye Photography. I spent a few years being introduced to wedding photography by Anthony before joining up with Chris Jane at Image Book Weddings. Alongside Anthony & Chris I photographed countless weddings around South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham & the Peak District.

Having gained all this experience & realising how much I enjoyed capturing these special days I decided to set up Dan Mogan Photography to allow me to continue doing this job I love.
